MOMENTS

OF

  EXCHANGE

This drawing captures the early morning scene of an open plan local community market in Rotterdam, the Fenix food factory. At this hour, vendors are still setting up and some have not yet arrived, there’s a few coffee counters, pizza stalls unattended. As this is the style of its own kind as an inclusive local community ran business, people are certainly more lay back and some vendor owners seem to run on a very flexible schedule.  The furniture here is upcycled, mostly put together over a small budget, aesthetically it is rustic, authentic and minimal.  in spite of the none glam standard setting, people seem to enjoy the way it is and its more highly valued as a social hub than its appurtenance. Service wise, it has a selection of tea and coffee places, some homemade quick grabs, preserved meat, cheese and vegetable stalls, restaurant and a book store. Combing this variety of places together has created interesting mix of social interactions, both expressions of private and social relationships are on play within this capture.
